Memoirs in Six

TeaBird tagged me for this! The meme originated with BookBabie.

  1. Write your own six word memoir.
  2. Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you’d like.
  3. Link to the person that tagged you in your post and to this original post if possible so we can track it as it travels across the blogosphere.
  4. Tag five more blogs with links.

Found tea, found yarn, found zazen.

I’ll tag: CheapLikeMe (a cool ecology/economy blog), Velvet Notes, Andy, KeyWordScarf (another knitting librarian!), and Sarah.

Note to my tagees — most of you have never heard of me before – I’ve been doing tag browsing recently and noticed you!

I’m it!

The lovely (currently sickly – send her virtual chicken soup!) Kis*Knit tagged me for this reading meme:

Open the book you’re currently reading to page 161 and read the fifth sentence on the page, then think of 5 bloggers to tag.

I’m currently reading ‘Rilla of Ingleside’ by LM Montgomery, and the fifth sentence on page 161 is:

I would really not have minded being a war-bride myself,” remarked Susan   sentimentally.

I’ll tag Melanie, PaulaSarah and Shannon.

ps – check out the pics of Sarah’s Gorgeous Wedding Dress!

Meaningful Music.

From Melanie.

Rules: list 5-10 songs that have affected your life. Pass it on to five other people.

  1. We Didn’t Start the Fire, by Billy Joel. I was born in ’75. Your culture is not my fault.
  2. The Gambler, by Kenny Roger. Useful life advice, in country music form.
  3. Hoof and Horn, the song – not the chant – as recorded by Ian Corrigan on ‘Once Around the Wheel’. Death and sex. It’s all about death and sex.
  4. Music of the Night, from The Phantom of the Opera. Our song.
  5. Leaving on a Jet Plane, as performed by Peter, Paul and Mary. I listened to this almost daily from the age of 11 until I was 17. Dreaming of escape kept me alive. Dreaming of love gave me hope. And planes are just cool.

I’ll tag: Kis-Knit, AnotherPurl, and whoever reads this post. I’d tag Melanie, but, well, that would be circular.

8 random things

Kis*Knit tagged me for the 8 random things meme. Here goes.

  1. I used to be a cook. I started work as a kitchen help when I was 14, and worked my way up to line cook through various restaurants until I married at 23.
  2. I wear Chanel #5 because of Marilyn Monroe.
  3. The strangest thing in my kitchen right now is 4 disks of palm sugar imported from Thailand.
  4. My clock chime is the Westminster chime.
  5. The book I am reading right now (almost literally – I put it down to answer this meme) is “Curry: A Tale of Cooks and Conquerors” by Lizzie Cunningham.
  6. There are five bookshelves in my living room, three in my bedroom, two in the kitchen, one in my daughters bedroom and one in her closet. I still don’t have enough shelf space for all our books.
  7. I aspire to be able to write like Sharyn McCrumb, live like Jim Harrison, and understand food like M.F.K. Fisher.
  8. I wear sandals all the time. Unless it’s a wedding, or the snow is deeper then two inches.

I don’t know 8 other bloggers to tag, so I’ll just tag….

well crumb – everyone I would tag has already done this meme! I suppose that’s what I get for taking a blog sabbatical.
