I was reading an interesting post over at Gypsy Coins & Peacock Feathers, and I had an Idea.
I want to get a camcorder or somesuch (is it still camcorders? I am so out of date most of the time), and go around and film people saying “I am America”. I can see this stream in my head – person after person after person, all different in all ways, all looking straight at the camera and saying it – “I am America.”
I think it would be wonderful and glorious and fun to do over the course of a year, to search out homogenity and diversity and be able to see it like that, one person at a time.
Because too much of the time we forget that this country is more then just us and our immediate community. It’s all of us.
