Plain old knit garter stitch selvedge — knit the selvedge stitch on each row, front and back. Look much much neater and better — still a bit asymetrical side to side, but not nearly as noticable different and wonky as the original selvedge was. For some reason , my leftern selvedges are always looser looking then then rightern ones.
