In all his felted glory.
Pattern: Erssie Major’s Silvanus, from the Samhain 2006 edition of iThe AntiCraft!** Knit on size eight needles in Knitpicks Telemark wool, rosemary and cream. 15 inches deep by 17 wide.
I enjoyed knitting this a lot, and am very pleased with how the Telemark wool performed – it felted nicely. I left off the bi color cording that the pattern includes because I tried out the felted cord/eyelet technique on a small bag I made, and didn’t care for the results. Instead I put two handles on it. The handles were knit in one piece on a size 8 circular — I cast on 200 stitches, knit 8 rows of garter stitch, and then felted the long skinny thing and cut it in half, giving me two 20 inch handles.
This is the first time I have knit stranded color work, and I am very happy with how it came out, and how much I was able to learn from the knitting. I could see a visible improvement in my gauge and stranding across the pattern.
** This will link you to the AntiCraft’s antifesto page – the current edition of the ‘zine may be a bit much for some tastes.

It came out great — I’d love to learn that technique.

She Ewe Knits has a nice Fairisle 101 program here: http://www.sheeweknits.com/fair_isle_101.htm
And Knitty had a good article about it a while back: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter06/FEATwin06TT.html
The border pattern on Silvanus is a nice simple stranded pattern to work, and has its own small chart on the pattern page — I’ll bet you could work it up as a headband or some other small project very easily.

*lol* This is still subtle encouragement.
Temptation is when I start emailing you patterns.
