Adventures in Gauge.

Filed under: Knitting — Anna @ 9:21 am

Remember that 5×15 inch afghan square I’m working up for Knit the Classics? The one I mentioned last weekend, the one with the nifty button on the sidebar?

Here she is in all her 14 x 6 inch glory, just before diving back into the frog pond:

Gauge bedevils me – this was five inches wide at two inches, and at four inches when I checked it again. Somehow over the course of ten inches of length, it picked up an inch of width, evenly distributed. Maybe because it’s superwash, and doesn’t cling to itself as well? Anyways, I’m recasting on at 21 stitches instead of 25, and we’ll see how that works.

I’m glad it’s only the 12th.

I don’t know what happened to the flash in this photo – this is really a pretty deep bright pumpkin orange.
