Edit Sept. 20, 2008.   This hat pattern is no longer available through the link – it can be found at http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-18196749_ITM , and http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1P2-11806813.html .

Both links require registration.

I’ll be sending this on to Made by Hand in October, hopefully with one or two others.

The pattern is Ardeana Hamlin’s One Skein Hat , knit in America’s Alpaca Charlevoix on size 8 needles (size 7 on the brim). I modified it slightly by not ripping out when I noticed including a decorative purl stitch row on the knit side just before the decreases for the crown start.  I just have to say that knitting this was an absolute pleasure – the pattern is simple, and this yarn is amazing.  It’s silky and molten and smooth on the needles – a real joy to work with.

Upright. Flat
